Over 30 years, Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Foundation granted more than $300 million to nonprofits and organizations and leveraged its giving to draw more than twice that much for Louisiana and its people.
That legacy continues through Sharon and Claude B. Pennington and their daughter, Paige Pennington Flanagan. Their new foundation is named the Pennington Foundation.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create and sustain safe, secure and thriving communities where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Our Work
The Pennington Foundation dedicates itself to fostering environments that enable individuals to flourish in all aspects of their lives. Recognizing that a sense of well-being, health and safety is the cornerstone of personal and community growth, we provide support to various causes, including education, sports, religious organizations, public safety, and disaster relief and recovery. Additionally, the Foundation underwrites children's services in the fields of art, health and recreation.
Grants and Initiatives

The Pennington Foundation understands education and sports are important assets that allow our community to thrive. We support LSU sports and academics, along with high school programs and other activities.
The Pennington Foundation underwrites Knock Knock Children's Museum. Gifts totaling $3 million by 50 families were originally matched by Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Foundation to build Knock Knock. We continue to support museum operations and scholarships for those who can't afford to visit the museum.

The Pennington Foundation works with public safety officials, law enforcement and first responders to provide them with special equipment and vehicles that help them do their jobs better and faster. The Foundation makes grants so lives can be saved, and disaster recovery can be completed more quickly.
